In the past I've posted about free chat software, and forums, and email clients. Today I found a company that does all that for free.
Now I get worried when I see a company that does EVERYTHING for free. I think back to the early days of podcasting. There WAS a company called podango (who are no longer in business). Why? They provided everything for free.
When I went to their site and started a live chat, I was told by “Jake”
“Comm100 has a long term plan. We may charge for providing add-on premium services or consulting services in the future. But all features you get now free will continue to be free.”
Now they had my attention.
I watched a video and saw where their chat software was pretty cool, and had many of the features I've used in other chat clients. The best part is all of their solutions are hosted (if you choose) and so updates are taken care of by them. There is a desk top client for their chat software.
Their chat software delivers great information about your visitors (browser, location, referrer). It even works on a mobile phone (Currently Windows based, but come October their v5.0 will be released and it supports iPhone, Blackberry, Android and other Java based phones). This means that you could potentially always be avalable for your visitors.
Throw on top of the chat a ticketing system (that ties into the chat, so you can make sure that concerns are followed up on).
You can also create a knowledgebase of frequently asked questions. If you are looking for your audience to support each other, you can set up a forum as well.
In looking at videos, and using their software form the visitors side it seems very powerful. You can customize the approach to insert your own branding and keep things looking professional.
Their clients include Inetl, Dell, Xerox, Remax, etc. In the first year of operation over 42,000 customers came on board.
If you are looking for a catch (as I was for a few days) it appears there is none. It's just powerful software for free. You end up with more information about your visitors, you provide tools to enhance customer satisfaction and community, and your customer is more satisfied.

Prfessor is now Free
I previously mentioned prfessor on the podcast this is the great system that makes it super easy to have multiple instructors on a memberhsip site. You can determine how much to pay each instructor. They create the content, you sell the information and everyone gets paid. Well the folks at prfessor.com have taken it one step further to make this a no brainer. Tthe system is now free unless you charge for classes.
For me this was the reason why I quit using it. I signed up, started building the site and never got all my content. Meanwhile I was getting charged $49 a month (so I canceled until I got all my materials ready). Now you can set up your classes for free, and only pay when you are ready to be “open to the public.” Another option is if you never charge for your classes, its always free.
